Untitled No. 1 is a remodel of an existing 1920s residence with the goal of serving the community by offering families and children a joyous and engaging preschool experience with a student body evenly spread across income levels. Although not ultimately used as a residence, given its history and scale, the US Green Building Council allowed the project to proceed under the LEED for Homes rating system. Careful attention to the use of renewables, maximized energy performance and the reuse of existing structure and the careful selection of new, durable materials achieved a LEED Gold certification for the project. This was the first project certification nationally/internationally under the LEED for Homes v4 rating system.
