ROW DTLA

ROW DTLA is an exciting, adaptive reuse project bordering Los Angeles’s Downtown Arts District; harboring 100 retail stores, restaurants, and 1,300,000 square feet of creative, commercial workspace. This complex of 8 produce warehouse structures was erected as the Los Angeles Terminal Mart between 1917 and 1923, at the end of the Southern Pacific Railroad. On weekdays, it is still the home of a 5-acre, open-air wholesale produce market first established in 1917, while new and creative restaurants serve the lunch crowd on the other side of the building.
The strongest sustainability move here was to preserve upwards of 90% of the existing buildings’ envelope and structure. All existing lighting and MEP equipment, however, has been replaced with new equipment providing far greater energy and water efficiency. A new, 10-level garage liberates the site from most parking, making way for tree-shaded pedestrian zones ideal for shopping, strolling & lingering.

This complex of 6 produce warehouse structures was erected in the This busy neighborhood, near train yards and freeways, is still a major wholesale hub for fresh produce and other commodities, but like this project, many early 20th century warehouses are currently being redeveloped as creative office space, housing, artist studios, restaurants, and galleries. ROW DTLA was LEED Silver certified as LEED Campus for all 3 buildings.
